Alexander Dimitrov will be the new Chief Executive Officer of Mtel, and the change will be taking place from October 1st, 2015. He will take the position from Thanasis Katsiroumpas, who decided to leave Mtel after 5 years and a half in Telekom Austria Group.
Alexander Dimitrov has been working in the telecommunications industry for the past 15 years. Currently, he is the Chief Commercial Officer in Vivacom. Mr. Dimitrov has held several management positions, including CEO of Germanos Telekom Bulgaria, before joining Vivacom in November, 2008. He has graduated from the Sofia Technical University with a Master’s degree in Electrical Machines and Equipment. He also holds a postgraduate degree in Marketing and Management from the University of National and World Economy in Sofia.

Thanasis Katsiroumpas became CEO and CMO of Mtel on the 1st of October, 2013. Under his leadership the company went through difficult times of reorganization, strengthen its position as a market leader in Bulgaria and brought Mtel brand back to the number one position in the market. He personally oversaw the launch of Mtel’s DTH service and the modernization of the telecom’ network, which is now ready for the fast roll out of the 4G LTE technology. As a CEO of Mtel Mr. Katsiroumpas also signed the first national roaming agreement in Bulgaria. He has over 20 years’ experience in the in the telecom industry in several mobile operators in South-East Europe.
Thanasis Katsiroumpas has been the CEO of Vip mobile in Serbia (2010-2013) and CEO/CMO of Globul in Bulgaria (2002-2008). Before Globul he has worked in the biggest mobile phone store chain in South-East Europe GERMANOS AEBE and STET HELLAS, a Greek mobile operator owned by Telekom Italia и Verizon Communications USA.
