Sexual abuse and harassment are not tolerated, neither is any other attitude that offends anyone’s dignity, alternate government spokesperson Aristotelia Peloni told ‘Efimerida Ton Syntakton’ newspaper on Saturday.
“Pretending that any of these do not happen is not tolerated either”, she pointed out.
With the new initiatives against all forms of sexual harassment and abuse announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in parliament on Thursday, the government “provides the tools required to tackle these phenomena, as these will give rise to new ethical and moral codes and protocols, essentially creating a new culture of mutual respect and understanding”, she stressed.
“A culture that will keep eyes peeled on fellow human beings and lees on stereotypes and taboos”, she underlined.
The outbreak of the Greek #metoo movement is an opportunity for such victims to break their silence and to encourage others to do the same, she added, while the government’s overall framework of initiatives will be here, to not only to prevent but also to cure”.
