Bulgaria’s government said on Wednesday that it will support local tour operators and travel agents through measures worth 56 million levs ($34.9 million/28.6 million euro).
Tour operators and travel agents will get grants equal to 4% of their turnover in 2019 so that they can refund prepaid trips which were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, the government said in a statement.
The grants will totall 51 million levs.
Another 5 million levs will be used to subsidise tourist charter flights to Bulgaria for two years after the end of the state of emergency over the coronavirus pandemic.
