Bulgaria’s electricity production declined by an annual 7.67% to 40,737 GWh last year, according to data from the country’s Electricity System Operator (ESO).
Domestic power consumption fell by 2.56% year-on-year in 2020, to 37,299 GWh, data from ESO’s weekly bulletin showed.
Electricity exports exceeded imports by 3,438 GWh last year, which represents a 41.17% annual decrease in the power trade surplus.
The volume of renewable energy in the transmission system increased 10.38% year-on-year to 1,326 GWh in 2020, while the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system added 5% to 1,917 GWh.
