Postbank’s Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer received the high accolade at this year’s Atanas Burov Foundation Awards
Dimitar Shoumarov, Executive Director, Chief Financial Officer and member of the Management Board of Postbank, has won the prestigious Atanas Burov Award 2019 for bank management. The awards of the Bank and Financial Management, and Industrial Management categories were handed at a sleek ceremony late last night in Grand Hotel Sofia, gathering representatives of Bulgaria’s financial and business elite. Atanas Burov Foundation has a tradition to distinguish every year the best managers in the area of finance and non-financial business. The awards are the way the foundation, named after the prominent Bulgarian banker, industrialist and financier, to recognize the people with impressive achievements in the area of Bulgarian economy during the year.

We have tackled numerous challenges, successfully finalized the merger with Piraeus Bank Bulgaria for a record-short time and launched the large-scale transformation of our even larger branch network in order to provide excellent customer experience. I am glad I see many colleagues in the hall, with whom we have worked over the years and together will preserve the high work standard and values of the great Bulgarian public figure and banker, Atanas Burov, the foundation was established in the name of. Above all, I am glad we continue passing them to the young generation in the banking sector,” Mr Shoumarov commented.
The awards of Atanas Burov Foundation for industrial management for 2019 were given to two managers – Yaroslav Donchev, Chair of Board of Directors and Executive Director of Ideal Standard – Vidima AD, and Fikret Ince, Chair of the Supervisory Board of Alcomet AD.
The foundation’s awards are bestowed after a poll among the organization’s trustees, including the figures managing some of the country’s biggest companies. The awards are given to people managing companies, which have reported high sales volume, big profit and have paid considerable taxes in three consecutive years. In addition to these criteria, the contribution to the development of human capital of companies managed by the contestants, as well as their authority and influence in the business sector and the community, have been considered.
Dimitar Shoumarov joined Postbank’s team in 2012 as Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, and a member of the Management Board of the financial institution. He is part of Postbank’s team in charge of the record-fast acquisition and integration of the operations of two banks (Alpha Bank and Piraeus Bank Bulgaria), which was yet another step in strengthening Postbank’s position as a systemic bank and in the expansion of its customer base. Dimitar Shoumarov actively participates in projects related to the digitalization of Bulgaria’s banking sector. He has won the CFO of the Year Award of EY and Forbes magazine.
