On February 6th, 2020, the Bulgarian Food Bank organized a business forum “Give a hand to the food! Business meets food banks" and celebrated the 8th anniversary of its establishment.
HBCB joined the event with representatives from the food industry and listened the introductory speech of Mrs Taneva, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. Mrs Taneva opened the floor, congratulated the participants and expressed her support to this brave social program.
The forum took place at nOva art space gallery and revealed many aspects of the food banking.
During the last 8 years Bulgarian Food Bank has served people in need of products worth over 2,000,000 BGN.
Food donated by the Food Industry reaches 20 000 people annually in partnership with more than 70 organisations taking care of people in need.
The Bulgarian Food Bank has received, stored, sorted, parcelled and dispatched food, exceeding 4 700 000 BGN in value and operates warehouses in Sofia, Varna and Mezdra, covering all the country.
Bulgarian Food Bank is a NGO, financed by donors only, without any financing from the state.
In this connection, the President of America for Bulgaria Foundation, Mrs Nancy Schiller, made a business challenge for all companies in the food industry by committing to each 1 BGN donated until July 21, 2020 in favour of the work of the Bulgarian Food Bank, America for Bulgaria Foundation to donate another 1 BGN in support of the organisation.
HBCB would like to support the effort Bulgarian Food Bank is making, inviting its members in food industry to participate at the food donation for people in need.
