GLOBUL awarded the winners in the Green Olympics organized by the educational portal Akademika BG. The initiative’s closing ceremony was held today in Sofia.
About 5,000 students from 1st to 12th grade participated in the Green Olympics which ended on December 10. Participants were divided into three age groups: elementary, middle and secondary school. They had to fill in an online test and write a short essay on environmental issues.
At the event, GLOBUL Corporate Affairs Director, Mr. Yassen Guev awarded the ‘green’ champions in each age group. The winner in the elementary school category Konstantin Dzharkin of Sofia’s St. Pimen Zografski 11th School received an iPod Nano player. Nikolai Lessidrenski of Ivan Vazov School in Pleven ranked first in the middle age group and won a smartphone GLOBUL Touch. The winner in the secondary school group is Katerina Petkova of Simeon Radev Foreign Language School in Pernik and she received Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 tablet. Participants who ranked second and third also received gifts.
GLOBUL supported the Green Olympics within its long-term environmental sustainability strategy GLOBUL Green. The initiative aimed at boosting students’ knowledge on environmental issues and at establishing green culture among young people. The competition was held under the patronage of the Minister of Environment and Water Nona Karadzhova and with the partnership of the environmental organization WWF.
