For the seventh consecutive year GLOBUL launches its annual Drive Safely campaign which aims to encourage responsible driving and promote reasonable use of mobile phones behind the wheel. The initiative was officially opened with a safe drive training featuring the popular rally driver Krum Donchev and his team, which took place at the Pavel Zhekov training ground near Sofia.
This year’s campaign is held in partnership with Press Auto Club Bulgaria, whose members are journalists from various national media, and the official ambassador of the initiative is the four-time Bulgarian rally champion Krum Donchev. Drive Safely is a long-term campaign, engaged at improving road safety in the country.
At the event, attended by automotive journalists and official guests, Krum Donchev showed safe driving techniques and gave useful tips on driving in extreme situations. Journalists had the opportunity to compete by performing several practical exercises at a specially selected route. The participant with the best score in the contest received the big award from GLOBUL – Nokia Lumia 800 smartphone.
‘Driving gives convenience and pleasure but it is also a matter of personal responsibility. Each year thousands of Bulgarians become victims of road accidents, many of which are caused by inattention. Mobile phones are part of our everyday lives but talking on the phone while driving is one of the risk factors that can lead to distraction. That is why we urge drivers to be careful, as unreasonable risks while driving may have serious consequences.’ – GLOBUL Corporate Affairs Director Yassen Guev commented at the event.

So far, GLOBUL partners in the Drive Safely initiative were institutions and organizations such as Sofia Auto Transport, Sofia Traffic Police, Sofia Municipality, Union of Bulgarian Motorists and the taxi company OK SuperTrans.
