For a second consecutive year, Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko will surprise guests with a luxurious treat – an exclusive white truffle menu. From 24 October to 6 November, guests are invited to savour a selection of gourmet specialities made with the world’s most expensive ingredient at Come Prima Restaurant.
White truffles represent an extremely fragrant type of fungi that grow underground, usually near or at the roots of a tree. They originate from the countryside around the town of Alba in the Piedmont region of northern Italy. Mid-October marks the beginning of the truffle season. These valuable mushrooms are collected with the help of specially trained dogs who locate them by their unique scent. Among all kinds of truffles, the white ones are the most highly prized and sought after on the market.
“We introduced the white truffle menu for the first time last year on the suggestion of our Italian Chef Francesco Calore in an attempt to surprise guests with a new culinary challenge inspired by Italian cuisine. Following the positive guest feedback, this autumn we decided to continue with the white truffle tradition. I am excited to once again have the privilege to create culinary wonders complemented by this exquisite ingredient. Its rich flavour pairs extremely well with different products, which gives us a lot of room to experiment,” said Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko’s Sous Chef Nikola Todorov.
The exclusive menu showcases the rare product in a variety of recipes, including appetizing starters, authentic Italian pastas, meat dishes and an exotic dessert. For appetizers, guests can choose between Fontina Cheese Fondue with White Truffles and Alba Raw Beef Carpaccio. The main courses include: Tajarin all’Albese, Risotto with Parmesan and Fresh Truffles, Truffle Fried Eggs and Milk-Fed Italian Veal Escalope. For dessert, guests have the option to try an extravagant mélange of Vanilla Ice Cream with White Truffles. The menu ideally complements the fine Italian wines Barolo and Barbaresco.
“By launching this menu again, we are not only bringing authentic Italian flavour back to Bansko, but we are also delivering an exceptional gourmet experience for connoisseurs – one they cannot try anywhere else in the region. I personally think that this rare delicacy has a sublime taste and is definitely worth trying,” added General Manager Athanassios Manos.
