At 8:30pm on 28 March the hotel partially switched off the main building exterior lighting, dimmed the lights in all public areas and went dark for an hour to protect the planet.
Despite the minimal lighting, some of the guests took advantage of the occasion to enjoy a romantic dinner by the fireplace in the Mediterranean restaurant Come Prima to the sounds of pleasant music. Those who chose to share the moment with their family or friends at the Lobby Bar also enjoyed an extraordinary experience, surrounded by the flames of many tiny candles.
On occasion of the world campaign, General Manager Athanassios Manos commented: “We hope our participation in this initiative sets the example and inspires more people to get involved in such noble causes. If any one of those present at today's event remembers this experience and repeats it next year regardless of where they are our cause will be even more successful.”
Celebrating Earth Hour has become a hotel tradition, which signifies the support in protecting the planet, as well as the hotel commitment to promoting a healthier lifestyle.
