Nasa astronaut addresses Sofia space summit

The dream of holidays in space, is no longer unattainable, according to John Hazlewood CEO of CenTransit, the travel company that plans to be among the first to sell space travel.You can hear more about space tourism at the “Future of Space Tourism Summit”, which is part of the international conference ‘Trends & Innovation Travel Distribution and Investment Summit’ between March 15 and March 17 2011.Special guest speaker is Story Musgrave, a Nasa astronaut for 30 years, who flew on all the US space shuttles and is also a professional photographer with a collection of his work and photos from space.Musgrave was a mission specialist on the space shuttles Challenger, Discovery and Atlantis, the payload commander on Endeavour and a mission specialist on Columbia. Story has spent a total of 1282 hours and is the only astronaut to have flown missions on all five space shuttles. Before John Glenn’s return to space in 1998, Story held the record for the oldest person in orbit, at age 62. He retired from NASA in 1997.Topics to be discussed at the conference, attended by Musgrave and others, will include travel agencies selling space travel, the view from space and prospects for possible lunar settlements.You can register here
