Plovdiv between Athens and Rome – Meeting of Greek and Italian companies

The Hellenic Business Council in Bulgaria (HBCB) and Confindustria Bulgaria organized yesterday a joint business meeting held in Plovdiv in the framework of the traditional international fair.The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic, H.E. Mrs. Danae-Madeleine Koumanakou, the Ambassador of Italy, H.E. Mr. Stefano Benazzo, Mr. Constantinos Papadopoulos, Secretary General for International Economic Relations and Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, the Chairmen of the two business associations – Mr. Stamatios Theodoropoulos and Mr. Pietro Luigi Ghia, business representatives and local authorities.Mr. Nikolaos Georgopoulos, CEO of Drujba Glassworks, Mr. Georgios Alexandris, CEO of Alexandris Engineering, Mr. Franco Miroglio of E. Miroglio and Mr. Giuseppe De Francesco, manager of the group Rigoni di Asiago and Italy’s Honorary Consul in Plovdiv took part at a panel discussion entitled “The successful experiences of Greek and Italian companies in Bulgaria”. Participants agreed that Bulgaria attracts investors with a stable business environment, low taxes, skilled and relatively cheap labor and friendliness. The main problems are the business red tape, corruption and inefficient justice system.Moderator of the meeting were Mr. George Roussos, Deputy Chairman of HBCB and Mr. Federico Cassi – Director of Confindustria Bulgaria.After the discussion, a light cocktail provided an excellent opportunity for one-on-one networking and establishing contacts.
