Sofia bourse blue-chip index ends 7-day winning streak, banks lead decliners

The Bulgarian Stock Exchange blue-chip SOFIX index ended its seven-day winning streak after closing 1.38% lower at 453.20 points on Wednesday, hurt by its banking sector members. Lenders First Investment Bank (Fibank) and Central Cooperative Bank (CCB) fell most among blue chips, erasing 6.09% and 4.17% of their share price, respectively. The top three was completed by CCB’s majority owner – diversified group Chimimport, which lost 4.10%.The wider BGBX40 index, which tracks the 40 most traded shares on the Sofia bourse, decreased 1.28% to 95.09 points, while the BGTR30 index, in which companies with a free float of at least 10% have equal weight, fell 1.33% to 462.79 points. The BGREIT index, which tracks real estate investment trusts, slid 0.78% to 129.12 points. Total regulated market trading turnover amounted to 1.3 million levs on Wednesday.
