29 October 2013, Sofia. For a second year Forbes announced its list of the most powerful people in Bulgaria. The list includes the 50 persons who according to Forbes are of greatest importance in determining Bulgaria’s present agenda.
The list is prepared according to the same methodology as Forbes has used for years to rate the most powerful people in the world. The rating is done based on the resources owned and controlled and according to the extent they are used to change Bulgaria. The greatest weight is given to resources in banking, energy sector, media, telecommunications and production of excise goods.
The Tot 50 list features 28 politicians and statesmen, 20 representatives of the business and two of non-profit NGOs.

These are the first ten:

1.       Tsvetan Vassilev, Corporate Commercial Bank
2.       Ahmed Dogan, honorary chair of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF)
3. 4. 5. Ivo Kamenov,  Marin Mitev, Tihomir Mitev, Chimimport
6.     Sergey Stanishev, BSP chair and PES president
7.     Delyan Peevsky, member of the Bulgarian Parliament from MRF
8. 9. Ivaylo Mutafchiev and Tseko Minev, First Investment Bank
10.   Valentin Zlatev, Lukoil Bulgaria

"This is not a rating of positive, neither of negative, characters. It measures power using a clearly defined methodology, regardless if it changes the country for the better or the worse", said the Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Bulgaria, Iordan Mateev.
The list differs considerably from the first one announced by Forbes Bulgaria in March 2012. It is extended from 30 to 50 people and there is considerable reshuffling within. Seven of the ten most powerful Bulgarians in the March 2012 list are out of the present Top 10, and one of them – Simeon Dyankov, on fourth position last year – is even out of the Top 50 list. A total of seven of the most powerful Bulgarians in the March 2012 list are now out of Top 10. Former No. 1 Boyko Borisov is now eleventh.
The average age of the most powerful Bulgarians is 51. The youngest (Delyan Peevsky) is 33, the oldest (Ivan Kostov) is 63. Seven women are on the list (14% of Top 50). The first woman (Yordanka Fandakova) holds only 29th position.
The full 2013 list of the 50 most powerful Bulgarians with short information about each of them is published in the special edition of Forbes Bulgaria.
