THE MINISTRY OF ECONOMY, ENERGY AND TOURISM, under the Operational Program “Competitiveness “, has started the long awaited Grant Scheme: „Upgrade of Technologies in Small and Medium Enterprises“.
The program has a deadline for submission of applications: 10.08.2010 and aims to provide co-funding for investments in machinery, equipment and other fixed assets as well as software and other intangible assets of Bulgarian enterprises from the following eligible industry sectors:
- § Sector С – Manufacturing industry
- § Sector J – Codes 62 “IT activities” и 63 “IT services”
- § Sector Е – Code 38 “Waste collecting and treatment, Recycling of materials”
NON – eligible candidates represent exceptions to the above-mentioned industries and are the following:
- § Fishing and aquacultures
- § Food and Beverage Industry (excluding manufacture of bread, chocolate, soft drinks & mineral water)
- § Production, processing and trade of agricultural products
- § Coal and steel mining; Ship-building; Synthetic fibers
- § Production, processing and/or marketing of cork products.

The percentage of co-funding is based on the category of enterprise as well as the region where the investment will be employed.
The maximum amount of EU- funding per enterprise is also based on the category of enterprise:
