SYRIZA spokesman Alexis Charitsis on Tuesday called for the intervention of the National Council for Radio and Television (NCRTV) against what he called “one-sided news information” in state-run media.
Making a special reference to national broadcaster ERT, he said “it broadcast discussions with the exclusive participation of government officials, completely ignoring the opposition.”
“The voice and activity of the opposition – be it main or other – is finding less of its way into the public information domain, as is any critical or alternative voice that differs from the official government narrative,” he said and called on NCRTV “to ensure the observance of pluralism and democracy in the information that reaches citizens.”
NCRTV is the Greek regulatory authority for the radio and television sectors.
