The net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Bulgaria dropped by 45% to 169.5 million euro ($193.7 million) in the first five months of 2020, the central bank said on Friday. The net FDI inflow in the January-May period of 2020, calculated according to the directional principle, was equal to 0.3% of the central bank’s forecast for Bulgaria’s gross domestic product for that year, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement, citing preliminary data. The largest net direct investment inflow into Bulgaria in the review period came from Germany and Russia – of 65.8 million euro and 55.9 million euro, respectively.
