Bulgaria’s thermal power plant (TPP) AES Galabovo produced some 2.8 million MWh of electricity in 2020, the plant’s owner AES Bulgaria, a unit of U.S.-based energy conglomerate AES Corporation, said on Wednesday.
The plant’s output covered 8% of the total domestic consumption last year, AES Bulgaria said in a statement.
The TPP achieved an average annual flue gas desulphurisation efficiency of over 97% in 2020.
In 1999, a unit of U.S.-based energy conglomerate AES Corporation purchased a majority interest in Bulgaria’s Maritsa East 1, subsequently renamed AES Galabovo. AES completed the full acquisition of the 600 MW thermal power plant from Ireland’s Consolidated Continental Commerce Limited (3C) in 2005.
