GLOBUL will continue to support Bulgarian national football team of homeless people also known as the Team of Hope, GLOBUL Corporate Affairs Director Mr. Yasen Guev told a news conference held in Sofia today.
Manchester United legend and former Danish national team goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel was special guest at the event.
Mr. Guev presented a check for BGN 35,000 to Mr. Victor Kirkov of Sports Мanagement Bulgaria, organizers of the Homeless World Cup Bulgaria project, and wished luck to the team in the upcoming Homeless World Cup in Poland as well as to the new ladies national team which is to be formed soon.
Peter Schmeichel, who was in Sofia under invitation by GLOBUL, also wished all the best to the Team of Hope.
“We are happy to be part of this important social project for integration of underprivileged young people though sports, through team work and the spirit of the collective effort. We all witnessed the progress these young men achieved in the past year. They achieved that because of their will to succeed, because of the tremendous work of project organizers and because of our assistance. We will continue to support the Team of Hope since we believe in the power of sport to unite people and to help them in their strive for a better future“, commented Mr. Guev.
GLOBUL has been general sponsor of the Homeless World Cup Bulgaria project since end 2011 and supported the Team of Hope in their first participation in the World Cup in Mexico City this October. The boys, selected and coached by Metodi Zdravkov ranked 14th of 43 national teams.
Thanks to the partnership between GLOBUL and Manchester United, the team held training camp at the Manchester United Academy under the supervision of the Manchester United Soccer Schools coaches and won all of the friendly games played there.
