The Hellenic Business Council in Bulgaria (HBCB) is pleased to present an inspiring cultural initiative celebrating the rich heritage, traditions and authentic spirit of Greece.
Bulgarian journalist and author Boyka Atanasova, who has lived and worked in Greece for more than twenty years, is preparing the publication of her upcoming book, A Guide to the Soul of Greece. Inspired by decades of journalistic work and countless encounters across the country, the book invites readers to discover Greece beyond the familiar tourist routes.
About the Author
Boyka Atanasova is an established Bulgarian journalist, international correspondent, publisher and author with extensive professional experience in Greece. For many years, she was the publisher of the Athens-based newspaper Bulgarian News and served as a correspondent from Greece for some of Bulgaria’s leading media outlets, including NOVA Television, 24 Chasa and Trud.
Throughout her journalistic career, she has covered major political, economic and social developments in Greece, as well as periods of severe crisis, natural disasters and emergency situations. Her work has earned her significant professional recognition, including the prestigious “Worthy Bulgarian Woman” distinction and an award from the Union of Bulgarian Journalists for her professional contribution as a journalist based in Greece.
Drawing on many years of first-hand experience and an in-depth understanding of the relationship between Bulgaria and Greece, Boyka Atanasova has also become a frequently sought-after Bulgarian voice in the Greek media. She has been invited to provide commentary and analysis on Bulgaria and Bulgarian-Greek relations across major Greek media outlets, including leading national television channels.
Her long-standing connection with Greece goes far beyond professional reporting. Years of observing the country, meeting its people and experiencing its everyday life have given her a perspective that combines the journalist’s eye for detail with the storyteller’s sensitivity — a perspective that now finds a new expression in her book, “A Guide to the Soul of Greece.”
Spanning more than 300 pages, the publication combines captivating stories, hidden destinations, cultural insights, practical travel information and remarkable photography, revealing the authentic character of one of Bulgaria’s closest neighbours and one of its most beloved travel destinations.
More than a travel guide, A Guide to the Soul of Greece is a journey through the country’s traditions, people and everyday life. It aims to inspire readers to experience Greece in a deeper and more meaningful way, discovering places and stories that often remain beyond the pages of conventional travel guides.
The project is also envisioned as the first volume of a broader publishing series dedicated to the many faces of Greece. A second book, Northern Greece – The Hidden Treasure, is currently in preparation and is expected to explore Halkidiki, Kavala, Drama, Xanthi, Serres, Mount Olympus, Meteora, the Prespa Lakes, Epirus and many other remarkable destinations.
The author also plans to publish the book in Greek, under the editorial guidance of renowned Greek journalist and writer Dimitris Kambourakis, allowing the publication to reach readers in both Bulgaria and Greece and further strengthen the cultural dialogue between the two countries.
