A new IKEA store will open in Mall of Sofia shopping centre in May, the owner of the mall said on Monday.
The IKEA concept store will spread on 1,200 sq m, Polish real estate developer Globe Trade Centre (GTC) said in a statement.
“The tenant will move in after the modification of the building, as a result of which, a new office tower, Sofia Tower 2, will appear on top,” GTC also said.
In November, GTC said that it has commenced the construction of the Sofia Tower 2 class A office project in the Bulgarian capital.
Greece-based durable goods provider Fourlis Group is the exclusive franchisee of the ΙΚΕΑ trademark in Bulgaria. The new store will be Fourlis’ second in Sofia and its third in Bulgaria after the group inaugurated an IKEA store in the coastal city of Varna in September.
Fourlis Group entered the Bulgarian market in 2011 with the opening of the first IKEA store in Sofia. The group also operates two order and pick-up points in the country – in Burgas and Plovdiv.
