Maychin Dom Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment in Obstetrics and Gynecology has received a BGN 100,000 donation from Postbank in support of the battle against Covid-19. The purpose of the donation is the purchase of protective gowns, high-quality protective masks, disinfectants and lots of other medical equipment needed to protect the hospital’s medical teams.

“On the behalf of the hospital and I personally would like to express my gratitude for Postbank’s gesture towards the healthcare establishment. Maychin Dom Hospital remains on the frontline in the care for mothers’ and children’s health amid the pandemic. We take care of the youngest patients and their mothers – pregnant women and those who have recently given birth. We conduct emergency gynaecologic procedures and operations. The funds we received will enable us to purchase some of the necessary protective gowns, masks, rapid Covid-19 tests and other equipment to protect the hospital’s medical teams and patients,” said Prof. Dr. Ivan Kostov, Executive Director of the hospital.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the hospital needs single-use three-ply masks and protective gloves, face shields, medical caps, medical boot covers, goggles, infrared thermometers and disinfectants to maintain the normal and efficient operation of clinics and continue serving the inflow of pregnant women, women who have recently given birth and patients in need of emergency procedures.

“We are facing a challenge that calls for concrete support actions. This is why, we, as a socially responsible company, made a donation to Bulgaria’s biggest maternal and children’s healthcare establishment – Maychin Dom Hospital. Joint efforts are the best way to manage in state of emergency conditions. Medical experts and hospitals need the business sector’s and the entire community’s support, so we, the bank employees, who are also “on the frontline”, are making the donation with gratitude to healthcare workers for their professional selflessness and care,” commented Petia Dimitrova, CEO of Postbank.

Disease prevention and the provision of high-quality medical services, pregnancy monitoring, diagnostics and treatment are becoming even a bigger challenge amid the epidemic. Maychin Dom University Hospital in Obstetrics and Gynecology continues strengthening its position of a national women’s and maternal healthcare centre even in the conditions of the current crisis situation.
