The net inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Bulgaria declined by 31.1% year-on-year to 843.9 million euro ($1.0 billion) in the January-November period of 2020, the central bank said on Tuesday.
The net FDI inflow in the first eleven months of last year calculated according to the directional principle, was equal to 1.4% of Bulgaria’s 2020 projected gross domestic product, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a statement, citing preliminary data.
The largest net FDI inflow into Bulgaria in the review period came from the Netherlands – of 491.9 million euro. Austria and Germany followed with 229.5 million euro and 141.1 million euro, respectively.
In November alone, Bulgaria recorded a net FDI inflow of 122 million euro, up from an inflow of 103.7 million euro in the same month of 2019.
