Bulgarian brewers have lost 20% of their market due to the government’s decision to close down restaurants in relation to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the Union of Brewers in Bulgaria (UBB) said on Thursday.
In addition, there is a notable decrease in the sales through stores, the UBB said in a statement.
The gross value added of the brewing industry in Bulgaria is estimated at some 225 million euro ($246 million), according to the UBB. A total of 2,150 people are engaged in beer and malt production in the country.
Bulgaria has been in a state of emergency since March 13 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
