We are pleased to announce that Park Inn by Radisson Sofia has been awarded The Green Key, presently the largest global eco-label for accommodation.
Green Key is a voluntary eco-label for tourism facilities that promotes sustainable tourism and aims to contribute to the prevention of climate change by awarding and advocating facilities with positive environmental initiatives. Green Key began in Denmark in 1994 and was adopted by The Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in 2002 to become its fifth international program. It has since spread to more than 40 countries and the label has been awarded to over 2300 establishments across the world.
FEE is an international umbrella organization with one national member organization per country representing FEE on the national level and in charge of implementing FEE programs nationally. FEE currently has 81 member organizations in 68 countries worldwide.
Green Key aims to
• raise the awareness of leisure establishment staff and clients,
• increase the use of sustainable methods of operation and technology,
• run ecologically sound and responsible businesses, and thereby
• reduce resource, energy usage
Tourism facilities awarded with a Green Key adhere to national or international Green Key criteria. The criteria have been designed to be easily understood by tourists, feasible for the tourism industry, and clearly verifiable through control checks.
The criteria focus on environmental management, technical demands, and initiatives for the involvement of guests, staff and suppliers. Some of the categories covered are: Water, Waste, Energy, Involvement and Awareness of Guests, Environmental Management, Staff Involvement, Use of Chemicals, Open Spaces, and Food and Beverages.
The team of Park Inn by Radisson Sofia greatly appreciates the recognition of the efforts taken to fulfill the criteria of this prestigious program. We are dedicated to help protect our planet. By integrating a comprehensive environmental responsibility program across our property, we are able to reduce our negative impacts on the environment, while continuing to provide our customers with a superior guest experience.
