Telenor in Norway donated NOK 550,000 or nearly BGN 130,000 to UNICEF Bulgaria as part of its annual Christmas donation campaign. On behalf of Telenor, GLOBUL Chief Executive Officer Mr. Stein-Erik Vellan handed over a cheque for the respective amount to Mrs. Tania Radochai, representative of UNICEF in Bulgaria.
This year Telenor decided to distribute its Christmas donation, which amounted to a total of NOK 1.6 million, between three organizations with charitable causes aimed at providing a better future for children. The company’s employees voted on which organization should receive the greatest share of the donation, selecting UNICEF for giving a new start to children in Bulgaria first, followed by the Norwegian Red Cross and the Norwegian Confederation of Sports.
UNICEF Bulgaria’s mission is to fight for all children to receive equal opportunities to grow up and develop, and to reach their full potential. Telenor’s donation will help to improve the provision and meet the needs of approximately 100 children aged 8-16 who are placed into institutional schools.
Telenor Group’s vision is to empower societies. This is also the basis for its work with corporate responsibility and sustainability.
GLOBUL is part of Telenor Group since August 1, 2013.
