On Saturday, December 14, Bansko, the awarded Best Ski Resort in Bulgaria for 2013 by the World Ski Awards resort, celebrated the official grand opening of the 2013-2014 ski season.
The program started with the third edition of the popular race "Beat The Champions", yet this time it set a record – amateur skiers tried to beat the time of not two, nor three… but whole four legendary ski champions: super champion Marc Giradelli, Bulgarian All-time best Petar Popangelov, French legend Luc Alphand and Slovenian master Jure Kosir. In addition, special guest Alberto Tomba, the Godfather of the main piste, also attended the celebration.
All VIP guests, including the legendary ski champions, chose Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko for their comfortable accommodation. Alberto Tomba and Marc Girardelli documented their visit with photos of themselves with the hotel's General Manager, Athanassios Manos. The international guests savoured exotic dishes at the Sushi bar and Teppanyaki Grill and enjoyed amazing live performances and spirited atmosphere at the famous Sing Sing Piano Bar.
Back by popular demand was the game "Treasure Hunters", which once again proved to be a blast. Hundreds of fans dug through the snow to find great treasure, including a luxurious Chopard watch. Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko also contributed one ski-weekend voucher for passionate winter sports fans.
Meanwhile, the Municipality of Bansko organised a variety of events for the special occasion including, a Christmas bazaar, festive fireworks and the traditional culinary exhibition “This is Bansko”, where local hoteliers and restaurateurs exhibited traditional recipes and signature dishes. Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko chefs surprised guests with selected dishes and lavish plates with a European flair.
This great day of competition, games, concerts, plenty of attractive prizes and winter fun finished with a cool party at club Happy End, featuring British saxophone sensation Lovely Laura and DJ Rae.
The season is now officially open and Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko is looking forward to welcoming its guests for a long-awaited ski holiday. This year the VIP ski pass is available again only to the hotel guests. It guarantees direct private access to the cabin lift and avoids queuing.
